Giving Blood - September 2008
Mommy: You had to get blood drawn the first time we went to the Kaiser Sunset office in Los Angeles. Mrs. Kerry came with us to help out if I needed anything. When they took your blood, there was a moment when you looked at me as though you were saying, "Why are you doing this to me?" You were crying so loud that people in the waiting room could hear. When they finished drawing your blood, the lab technician taped a Band-aid on your arm, and I hugged you as I carried you out to the waiting room. Kerry silently stood up as I walked out to see if there was anything she could do. I some how communicated that I needed a minute and I walked away and cried. I was thinking about how much you were having to go through as a little girl. As I turned back to Kerry, she was smiling and giggling. I looked at her questioningly and she informed me that as I walked away you were smiling at her over my shoulder. You seemed to have forgotten all about the pain. You are such a tough, strong girl.
